The ERICSSON-class starships contain 2 Shuttle Bays, located on each side of the
saucer section. One Danube-class runabout, 2 Type-14 Science Shuttles (long-range), and 4 Type-17
Shuttles make up the fleet of auxilliary spacecraft for each Ericsson-class starship; however, the USS PROVIDENCE
replaced a destroyed science shuttle with a second runabout on Stardate 54071. The larger Type-14 Shuttles are
typically equipped with scientific survey equipment and a small science lab for away missions.
